Life
The Life screen saver (1993) is an implementation of John Horton Conway's "Game of Life" with basic black-and-white graphics. White cells on a black background are either alive or dead when the "game" initializes, and then they interact with each other based on a set of rules designed to help the cells survive in a process similar to evolution.

A very good implementation of the original, with periodic boundary conditions.
